News Release

Sherbrooke, June 3, 2025Skyrenu Technologies Inc. announced the closing of financing under the program Impulsion PME, managed by Investissement Québec as a government agent. This public support is part of a pre-seed financing round also mobilizing private investors, including the CarbonFix fund from the Netherlands, and aims to strengthen the execution capacity of Skyrenu, a young innovative company from Sherbrooke working in the field of direct atmospheric carbon capture (DAC).

The role of the reference entities is essential to the success of the Impulsion PME program. Thus, it is important to emphasize that Skyrenu was referred and supported by entities providing expertise in R&D/materials (PRIMA Québec) and clean technologies (2 Degrés). The technology, developed as part of a partnership between the University of Sherbrooke and the young company, was also able to count on Axelys to provide financial and strategic support for its technological maturation.

This strategic financing comes as Skyrenu successfully delivered its first ever 2025-ton DAC unit in February –50CO₂/year to a customer in Alberta. This milestone confirms the company’s ability to deliver cutting-edge technology, on time and to the highest quality standards.

"This support from the Quebec government marks an important milestone for Skyrenu. It is a concrete testament to the expertise and dynamism of our team, the innovation of our technology, and our strong growth potential." said Gabriel Vézina, President and CEO of Skyrenu Technologies.

"It is essential for our government that young, innovative companies with high growth potential in Quebec have access to investment capital at the seed stage. With Impulsion PME, we are helping them get through the crucial pre-commercialization period and attracting new private investors. I am very excited about the future of Skyrenu!" said Christopher Skeete, Minister Delegate to the Economy, Minister responsible for the Fight against Racism and Minister responsible for the Laval region.

"Skyrenu offers an innovative solution that leverages local expertise to address major climate challenges. By leveraging technology from academia, the company perfectly illustrates Quebec’s ability to transform cutting-edge research into concrete, marketable solutions. Impulsion PME’s participation not only accelerates the transition from research to market, but also strengthens an ecosystem where innovation and the energy transition go hand in hand." said Bicha Ngo, President and CEO of Investissement Québec.

Skyrenu, which employs approximately fifteen full-time employees, continues to scale its carbon capture technology with a focus on modularity and energy efficiency. Its approach is based on a lightweight manufacturing model, combined with a strategy of primarily Quebec-based industrial partnerships.
