Kinder Morgan closes the Kinetrex Energy acquisition. Kinetrex provides liquified natural gas (LNG), renewable natural gas (RNG), and pipeline natural gas to customer across the midwest United States. Kinetrex operates two LNG plants connected to existing pipelines that provide 24 million LNG gallons of storage capacity. LNG offers 35% lower costs for their customers while ensuring customers have a redundant supply.
Kinetrex also connects to existing gas network infrastructure to deliver decarbonized gases (or RNG) that provide a valuable source of flexibility, scaling up deliveries as necessary to meet peaks in demand.
“We are very pleased to be adding Kinetrex Energy’s business to the full suite of energy solutions and services that Kinder Morgan has to offer customers,” said Energy Transition Ventures President Jesse Arenivas. “We’re confident that additional RNG opportunities will continue to emerge in the near term and deliver attractive returns to our shareholders.”
Unlike the current pipeline natural gas market, the renewable natural gas market is highly fragmented. Kinetrex provides Kinder Morgan with even more opportunities to build out the company's RNG project portfolio.
