Air bp has signed a multi-year contract with Airbus for the supply of conventional aviation fuel, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and related services in Germany and Spain. This agreement enables Air bp, the aerospace division of bp with 600 locations in over 40 countries, to secure one of the largest voluntary purchase commitments for SAF by an aircraft manufacturer (OEM).
Air bp will support a wide range of Airbus activities, including the commercial aircraft, helicopter, and military aircraft business units. The contract covers key activities such as flight testing, customer deliveries, internal transport using the Beluga fleet, and the employee shuttle service that runs daily between Toulouse and Hamburg.

The contract includes special account management, regular technical maintenance in Germany and a new collaboration with Airbus Spain for the supply and storage of aviation fuel as well as for the processes on the aircraft.
Christian Frohn, Vice President of Air bp, explains: “This agreement underlines our strong partnership with Airbus. At the same time, it highlights our ability to offer complex, cross-border solutions that support operational efficiency and emissions reduction. This is another example of the implementation of our strategy. We focus on successful markets and build important partnerships like the one with Airbus.”
SAF can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 80% over its life cycle compared to conventional aviation fuel; however, SAF does not reduce emissions during combustion. Emissions at the wingtip of the aircraft are essentially identical to those of fossil aviation fuel.
As the aviation division of bp, Air bp is one of the world's leading providers of aviation fuels and services. For 100 years, the company has invested in the aviation industry to support safe transportation on flights worldwide. Air bp has over 600 sites in 40 countries and supplies fuel for over 6,800 flights a day – that's more than one flight every 15 seconds. Air bp's customers include airlines, the military, business and private aircraft owners, and airport and airfield operators. Our aviation experts support bp's goal of providing energy for today and tomorrow. Air bp offers a wide range of services to support its fuel offering, including the design, construction, and operation of refueling facilities; technical consulting and training; solutions that can potentially help customers achieve direct and indirect emissions savings; the Sterling card for efficient general aviation refueling; and innovative digital platforms to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
