Bunge Brazil Becomes First to Certify Soybeans for Sustainable Aviation Fuel Under ISCC CORSIA PLUS

Published by Todd Bush on January 16, 2026

Bunge’s operations in Brazil have achieved a milestone by becoming the first to obtain certification for soybeans intended for use in the production of sustainable aviation fuel under the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) CORSIA PLUS system, which is recognised by the International Civil Aviation Organization, reports Biomass Magazine.

The certification applies to the company’s unit in Rondonópolis, located in the state of Mato Grosso, and was awarded by SCS Global Services, a third-party agency that provides certification, validation and verification services. The approval also includes the ISCC CORSIA PLUS Low-LUC seal, which confirms a low risk of indirect land-use change.

The ISCC CORSIA PLUS standard forms part of the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation, a global programme designed to encourage the use of renewable fuels in international air transport.

The Low-LUC designation indicates that the certified soybeans are produced through improved farm management and higher productivity, and are not linked to the expansion of agriculture into new areas, ensuring they do not contribute to indirect land-use change.
