Carbon Conversion Leader, AIRCO, Appoints New COO & CFO to Expand its Executive Leadership

AIRCO Welcomes Dr. Sathya Motupally (COO) and James Mackey (CFO) to its Executive team to join in taking the organization through its next phase of growth.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)AIRCO, the carbon conversion technology company transforming CO₂ into fully-formulated synthetic fuels for industrial applications, has announced the appointment of two new executives to its leadership team: Dr. Sathya Motupally as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and James Mackey as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Dr. Motupally, a renowned energy expert, brings extensive experience in scaling clean energy businesses globally to his new role as COO at AIRCO. He joins AIRCO following his tenure as Global COO of Doosan’s fuel cell business (2014-2023). His previous roles include Head of R&D for UTC Power and strategic advisor to the U.S. Department of Energy. During his tenure at Doosan, Dr. Motupally played a pivotal role in driving growth across all aspects of the business, scaling the enterprise more than sevenfold.

As CFO, James Mackey joins AIRCO’s executive team with a strong background in capital raising, investment strategy, and commercial business development. Prior to AIRCO, Mackey served as Managing Director with Climate Investment, leading investments in assets that reduce, recycle, and store greenhouse gas emissions from industrial facilities. Additionally, Mackey held roles as Senior Vice President of Finance at Apex Clean Energy and Executive Director at NextEra Energy Resources, leading Mergers & Acquisitions.

These pivotal executive hires follow AIRCO’s recent $70M Series B funding round, a significant milestone toward large-scale production of its CO₂-derived sustainable aviation fuel (AIRMADE™ SAF). Dr. Motupally and Mackey join at a time of exponential growth for AIRCO.
