AIRCO Welcomes Dr. Sathya Motupally (COO) and James Mackey (CFO) to its Executive team to join in taking the organization through its next phase of growth.
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE) – AIRCO, the carbon conversion technology company transforming CO₂ into fully-formulated synthetic fuels for industrial applications, has announced the appointment of two new executives to its leadership team: Dr. Sathya Motupally as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and James Mackey as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Dr. Motupally, a renowned energy expert, brings extensive experience in scaling clean energy businesses globally to his new role as COO at AIRCO. He joins AIRCO following his tenure as Global COO of Doosan’s fuel cell business (2014-2023). His previous roles include Head of R&D for UTC Power and strategic advisor to the U.S. Department of Energy. During his tenure at Doosan, Dr. Motupally played a pivotal role in driving growth across all aspects of the business, scaling the enterprise more than sevenfold.

As CFO, James Mackey joins AIRCO’s executive team with a strong background in capital raising, investment strategy, and commercial business development. Prior to AIRCO, Mackey served as Managing Director with Climate Investment, leading investments in assets that reduce, recycle, and store greenhouse gas emissions from industrial facilities. Additionally, Mackey held roles as Senior Vice President of Finance at Apex Clean Energy and Executive Director at NextEra Energy Resources, leading Mergers & Acquisitions.
These pivotal executive hires follow AIRCO’s recent $70M Series B funding round, a significant milestone toward large-scale production of its CO₂-derived sustainable aviation fuel (AIRMADE™ SAF). Dr. Motupally and Mackey join at a time of exponential growth for AIRCO.
Gregory Constantine, AIRCO’s Co-founder and CEO, said:“I am absolutely thrilled to welcome Sathya and James to our executive leadership team to continue to bolster our organization with truly world-class talent and leadership. Their renowned expertise within both the energy and defense technology sectors speaks for itself, and their knowledge and leadership will propel AIRCO through our next phase of growth.”
AIRCO’s proprietary AIRMADE™ Technology is an adaptable carbon conversion platform designed to enable industries to produce high-demand, fully formulated synthetic fuels from captured CO₂ and hydrogen. Currently focused on industrial applications, AIRCO aims to deploy the most cost-effective and scalable fuel production technology available, driving carbon emissions reduction in hard-to-abate sectors, particularly aviation.
AIRCO is a world leader in carbon conversion technology, paving the way to global energy security by transforming CO₂ into a valuable resource. The company has commercial partnerships with airlines including JetBlue and Virgin Atlantic, amongst others, and has been awarded multiple government contracts, including with NASA and the United States Department of Defense's Defense Innovation Unit. The company has received industry recognition through awards such as Time Best Inventions, Inc. Best in Business, Fast Company World Changing Ideas, and the XPrize for Carbon Removal.
AIRCO’s many accolades include winning the prestigious Green Chemistry Challenge Award from the Environmental Protection Agency in October 2023, an award given to organizations that reinvent processes to reduce the generation of hazardous substances and byproducts. AIRCO was also recently declared a winner for the World Economic Forum UpLink Sustainable Aviation Challenge, which accelerates the development of promising technology pathways that enable widespread uptake of SAF.
