Stacy Kauk’s appointment underscores the company’s focus on delivering impact via its carbon credit program with a shared revenue model to grow CarbonCure adoption & production.
Halifax, Nova Scotia, August 27, 2025 — CarbonCure Technologies today announced key updates to its Board of Directors, including the appointment of Stacy Kauk as well as the election of a new Chair and Vice Chair. A pioneering sustainability executive, Kauk brings more than two decades of experience catalyzing innovation through the voluntary carbon market and mobilizing corporate climate action.
Kauk currently serves as Chief Science Officer at Isometric, a leading carbon removal registry, where she leads a team of nearly two dozen climate scientists to ensure carbon credits are grounded in scientific rigor and meet the highest standards of quality. As the former Head of Sustainability at Shopify, she drove the company’s bold climate strategy and $55M+ carbon removal portfolio, and she helped launch Frontier, a landmark market-based initiative to accelerate carbon removal.

“When I first worked with CarbonCure in 2020, purchasing carbon credits to launch Shopify’s Sustainability Fund, I was excited to discover a company not only reducing concrete’s carbon footprint but also supporting carbon utilization with permanent CO2 storage,” said Kauk. “I’ve seen firsthand how CarbonCure’s model can bring real change in this hard-to-decarbonize industry, making incredible progress in a short amount of time. I’m proud to join the Board to help build on this momentum and ensure the built environment plays a leading role in climate progress.”
In addition to CarbonCure, Kauk also serves on the board of Carbon Removal Canada. In prior roles, Kauk led the Ozone Layer Protection Program at Environment and Climate Change Canada, represented Canada as a member of delegations for the Stockholm Convention and Montreal Protocol, and designed environmental protection measures and pollution prevention controls for a variety of industry sectors as an environmental engineer.
“Stacy’s visionary leadership in corporate climate strategy and carbon removal advocacy has transformed the voluntary carbon market and inspired a new standard for climate ambition. Her impact on the field is undeniable, and we’re beyond thrilled to welcome her to our Board of Directors,” said Kristal Kaye, interim CEO of CarbonCure.
“Stacy’s appointment sharpens our strategy to scale CarbonCure’s reach through our generation and sales of high integrity carbon credits in the voluntary carbon market,” Kaye added. “By leveraging our shared credit revenue model, we’re driving industry adoption and ramping up CarbonCure concrete production. This flywheel is gaining speed—recently surpassing nine million truckloads and delivering more than 650,000 metric tons of carbon savings.”
The carbon utilization technology company has also appointed William C. Holden as its Board Chair and Onne van der Weijde as Vice Chair. A longtime CarbonCure champion and Board Director, William C. Holden brings nearly four decades of executive and general management construction materials experience in aggregates, ready mix, masonry products and building materials. Onne van der Weijde is a veteran cement executive with more than 30 years of global experience in the industry, currently serving as a senior adviser to the CEO of CRH. He joined CarbonCure’s Board in 2024.
“Having had the pleasure of being connected to CarbonCure for over 13 years, I am honoured to be elected to become the Chairman of the Board,” Holden said. “I am a great fan of all of the fine people that work for or use these wonderful products to enhance the concrete being made all around the world.”
Van der Weijde added, “CarbonCure’s technologies give manufacturers a proven circularity solution by utilizing captured CO₂ to drive greater cement efficiency, creating real value for the industry. Through this new leadership position on the Board, I look forward to guiding the company’s strategy and supporting its growth worldwide.”
A category leader in carbon utilization technologies for the concrete industry, CarbonCure has deployed its easy-to-adopt, drop-in decarbonization solution to hundreds of concrete plants around the world, transforming them into carbon storage factories. CarbonCure’s carbon mineralization systems inject and permanently store CO2 in concrete. The resulting compressive strength enables reductions of carbon-intensive cement in each new truckload of concrete, supporting corporate strategies to reduce embodied carbon emissions and meet net zero goals.
With these latest appointments, CarbonCure’s Board of Directors now includes:
William C. Holden, CarbonCure Board Chair
Onne van der Weijde, CarbonCure Board Vice Chair; Sr. Advisor to the CEO of CRH
Benjamin Hogan, Director at Blue Earth Capital
Stacy Kauk, Chief Science Officer at Isometric
