Sirona Technologies and IMC Announce Purchase of Permanent Carbon Removal Credits
Global quantitative trading firm IMC has purchased permanent carbon removal credits from Sirona Technologies’ DAC project located in Kenya: Project Jacaranda. IMC’s commitment supports the scale-up of our modular Direct Air Capture technology and reflects the firm’s leadership in backing high-integrity climate solutions.
Reducing emissions alone is not enough to stabilize the climate; we must remove and permanently store carbon at scale. DAC captures CO₂ directly from the air and stores it in geological formations where it mineralizes into rock – ensuring high permanence and measurability.

Sirona’s DAC systems are modular and rapidly deployable, and combined into large-scale carbon removal plants. This approach allows us to scale faster and reduce costs with each new deployment.
IMC’s forward purchase directly accelerates this scaling, as early engagement ensures access to high-quality removals while helping build the capacity the world needs.
Timothy Hall, Global Head of Group Operations at IMC:
“IMC understands the importance of backing solutions that deliver real, measurable climate impact. As a technology-driven firm, we’re drawn to solutions that can scale through clear engineering and iteration. We see Sirona’s modular approach to Direct Air Capture as the right path to scaling permanent carbon removal, and we’re pleased to support it at this stage.”
Thoralf Gutierrez, CEO & co-founder of Sirona Technologies:
“Sirona is currently delivering projects across multiple regions, with the first commercial unit coming online in 2025 and further scaling in 2026. We look forward to continuing to work with IMC and other climate-ambitious organizations that recognize both the responsibility and the advantage of supporting durable carbon removal today.”
