In a significant move towards sustainable energy, Verdagy has appointed as the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contractor for its ambitious 60-megawatt (MW) clean hydrogen project near Texas's Gulf Coast. This collaboration aims to produce over 9,000 tons of clean hydrogen annually, marking a pivotal step in the U.S. energy sector.
Verdagy, renowned for its innovative approach to clean hydrogen production, plans to leverage its proprietary eDynamic® electrolyzers in this project. These electrolyzers are designed to offer the broadest dynamic operating range in the hydrogen industry, enabling real-time adaptation to the ERCOT grid's energy fluctuations. This adaptability not only enhances grid resilience but also optimizes hydrogen production efficiency.
The project's impact extends beyond energy production. With an investment exceeding $150 million, it is poised to bolster the Texas economy, create American jobs, and strengthen U.S. energy exports. "This project will bring over $150 million of investment to Texas, increase U.S. energy exports, and create American jobs," stated Rahul Bammi, President of Verdagy.
Black & Veatch brings a wealth of experience in project execution and infrastructure development, particularly in gas storage, processing, and liquefaction. Their proven track record in hydrogen electrolysis projects across North America positions them as an ideal partner for this endeavor.
Anand Pattani, Vice President and Managing Director of Energy Majors at Black & Veatch, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: "We will utilize this expertise as we support Verdagy on this project, which will help develop the U.S. energy industry and strengthen U.S. energy exports."
Central to this project is Verdagy's eDynamic® electrolyzer technology. These U.S.-designed and manufactured electrolyzers are tailored to seamlessly integrate with variable energy sources, ensuring high efficiency and reliability. Their ability to adjust dynamically to energy supply variations makes them particularly suited for the fluctuating nature of renewable energy inputs.
The project is committed to adhering to international and domestic standards. The produced hydrogen will be RFNBO compliant, aligning with European RED III requirements, and will also meet the U.S. Treasury's 45V guidelines. This dual compliance ensures the project's viability in both domestic and international markets, enhancing its competitiveness globally.

The FEED study is slated for completion by May 2025, with the Final Investment Decision (FID) anticipated in July 2025. Successful execution of this project is expected to serve as a precursor to over a gigawatt of forthcoming projects in Texas, signaling a robust pipeline for clean hydrogen initiatives in the region.
This initiative represents a significant advancement in the U.S. hydrogen economy. By integrating cutting-edge technology with strategic partnerships, Verdagy and Black & Veatch are setting a precedent for future clean hydrogen projects. The emphasis on domestic manufacturing and job creation further underscores the project's alignment with national economic and environmental objectives.
##The Bigger Picture
The collaboration between Verdagy and Black & Veatch epitomizes the synergy required to drive the clean energy transition. By harnessing innovative technology, substantial investment, and engineering expertise, this project is poised to make a lasting impact on the energy landscape, both in Texas and beyond.
