Construction at the Woodfibre LNG site continues to progress steadily. Recent milestones include ongoing foundation work for LNG processing equipment and the arrival of the first pipe rack modules in May.
Current site activities include backfilling, grading, concrete pours, rock scaling, and advancement of onshore casings for the floating storage tank mooring structures. Erosion and sediment control measures, along with environmental best practices, remain fully implemented and monitored.

Pipe racks arriving on site
In preparation for module deliveries and the upcoming in-water construction window, spill prevention and response drills have been conducted. Additional training will be delivered by the Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) for all contractors involved in marine activities. Environmental monitoring and mitigation measures continue in response to evolving site conditions and construction scopes. Daily bird monitoring and amphibian exclusion and salvage operations are conducted under the direction of a Qualified Environmental Professional. A full-time wildlife monitor is also in place to manage bear activity, ensuring the safety of both wildlife and workers. All construction activity is paused when bears approach active work areas, resuming only after they leave naturally and are out of harm’s way.

The project has a noise exemption variance permit in place from the District of Squamish as some works are required to continue past noise bylaw hours. Night work will continue over the coming months, including form work, concrete pours and site maintenance, including erosion and sediment control. Noise monitoring at Britannia and Squamish harbour continues.
