Project Brighton, Avnos’ largest operating deployment to date, enters service as the company continues to scale commercial Hybrid Direct Air Capture infrastructure.
BRIDGEWATER, N.J.--Avnos, the developer of infrastructure-scale Hybrid Direct Air Capture (HDAC™), today announced that Project Brighton has entered operations in Bridgewater, New Jersey.

"Brighton is our largest operating deployment to date and demonstrates our ability to deliver infrastructure at increasing scale." - Will Kain, Founder and CEO, Avnos
Developed with funding from the U.S. Office of Naval Research (ONR), Brighton supports Avnos’ work piloting Direct Air Capture-sourced CO₂ to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Brighton is designed to capture 450 tons of atmospheric CO₂ annually while also producing approximately 475,000 gallons of clean water each year.
Project Brighton is sited alongside Avnos’ Technology Development Center on Milltown Road in Bridgewater, bringing research, testing and product development together on a single campus. The deployment expands the company’s operational capabilities while supporting ongoing technology validation as Avnos continues to scale.
Avnos’ HDAC technology produces clean water while capturing atmospheric CO₂ in a single process, without requiring external heat input. It integrates with data centers, geologic carbon storage, and next-generation fuel production, helping a diverse range of customers address energy, water and carbon challenges through a single infrastructure platform.
“Brighton is our largest operating deployment to date and demonstrates our ability to deliver infrastructure at increasing scale,” said Will Kain, Founder and CEO of Avnos. "It also provides the operational experience and real-world performance data that will help accelerate future commercial deployments, while helping customers address interconnected energy, water and emissions challenges."
“Project Brighton reflects the kind of investment Somerset County, and New Jersey more broadly, works hard to attract – technology companies building real infrastructure at scale,” said Chris Edwards, President and CEO of Somerset County Business Partnership. “Avnos has been part of our business community for several years now, and it's great to see this project reach operational status.”
With Brighton now operational, Avnos continues development of Project Cedar, supported by up to $17 million in project financing. Cedar will deploy four HDAC modules, engineered for faster build times, greater scalability and more repeatable project delivery as Avnos scales HDAC infrastructure.
Backed by more than $100 million in funding and support from Mitsubishi Corporation (Americas), Shell US Gas & Power, NextEra Energy Resources, ConocoPhillips, JetBlue Ventures, the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Defense, Avnos continues to scale infrastructure solutions for a variety of commercial applications.
Notes to Editors:
Project Brighton was carried out under U.S. Navy contract N00014-23-C-1011, awarded to IWVC, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Avnos.
Avnos builds infrastructure-scale technology that transforms data center and industrial waste heat into cooling, clean water and durable carbon removal through a single platform.
Avnos’ Hybrid Direct Air Capture (HDAC™) technology integrates directly into data centers, carbon storage hubs, and next-generation fuel facilities, helping customers address energy, water and carbon challenges through a single infrastructure solution. Standardized HDAC modules are designed to deploy quickly and scale across diverse sites and applications.
Avnos is advancing commercial HDAC deployment through infrastructure-scale projects with global partners.
