California Pauses Hydrogen Hub Activities Amid Federal Funding Changes

Published by Todd Bush on November 7, 2025

Sacramento, CA – In response to recent changes in federal funding priorities, the Alliance for Renewable Clean Hydrogen Energy Systems (ARCHES) will immediately pause hydrogen hub activities, with the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) and University of California assuming administrative oversight during this transition.

While this change reflects shifting federal investments, California remains firmly committed to developing a renewable hydrogen ecosystem as part of its broader clean energy transition. Clean hydrogen can play a pivotal role in helping the state move away from fossil fuels, driving innovation and supporting healthier, more sustainable communities.
