EVA Air Partners with AIT Worldwide Logistics, Microsoft Formosa Petrochemical to Promote Low-Carbon Transport

Published by Todd Bush on September 1, 2026

EVA Air has officially signed a partnership agreement with AIT Worldwide Logistics (AIT), a global cargo transportation company. The two companies will jointly promote EVA Air's "Green Transportation Program" over the next two years. In the first year, they will provide Microsoft with environmental value equivalent to approximately 15,000 tons of CO₂ through flights using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), helping to reduce Scope 3 emissions associated with the air transport of Microsoft's cloud infrastructure equipment. Representatives from Microsoft and Formosa Petrochemicals (FPCC) also attended the signing ceremony, demonstrating a shared commitment to accelerating the decarbonization of the aviation industry through collaboration among the aviation, energy, logistics, and technology sectors.

Flights under this partnership will operate from Taiwan using SAF supplied by FPCC. This fuel, produced from waste cooking oil, has obtained International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) for both its raw materials and manufacturing process. Compared to conventional aviation fuels, it can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 80% throughout its entire lifecycle. The environmental value of the associated SAF will be managed and transferred through internationally recognized mechanisms, enabling Microsoft to effectively reduce its Scope 3 emissions in air cargo transport. In addition to its goal of achieving carbon negativity by 2030, Microsoft is continuously reducing emissions in its supply chain through SAF procurement and other means. This partnership demonstrates that these investments and corporate demand can accelerate the adoption of SAF, while also supporting the growth of the SAF market in Taiwan and the development of a broader low-carbon aviation ecosystem.

Amid growing global demand for carbon reduction in supply chains and sustainable transport, EVA Air is actively expanding its SAF (Sustainable Aerospace) strategy. Since 2025, it has been regularly introducing SAF on flights departing from Asia, Europe, and North America, and has also entered into a five-year SAF procurement agreement with FPCC (Freight Transport Carrier). Through its "Green Transport Program," EVA Air is supporting businesses and freight carriers in understanding the carbon emissions associated with air transport and leveraging the environmental value of SAF to reduce Scope 3 emissions across its entire supply chain. The partnership with AIT, Microsoft, and FPCC aims to build a sustainable and repeatable partnership model, encouraging more companies to participate and jointly expand the use of SAF, accelerating the move towards net-zero emissions in air transport.

Clay Song, President of EVA Air, commented, "Achieving net-zero emissions in the aviation industry requires cooperation from airlines, fuel suppliers, logistics companies, and other businesses. This partnership demonstrates that the development of the SAF market can be accelerated when corporate needs and industry resources align. We look forward to working with even more partners in the future to make low-carbon air transport the new standard in global supply chains."

Greg Weigel, Chief Strategy Officer of AIT, commented, "AIT transports a large volume of high-value air cargo from Taiwan every year. EVA Air is a key partner that supports our growth, and we have built a deep relationship of trust with them over several decades. By working with our main customer Microsoft, our main partner airline EVA Air, and our local SAF supplier in Taiwan FPCC, we aim to demonstrate the carbon reduction benefits of SAF and drive the market, and to encourage similar collaborations among airlines, fuel suppliers, freight forwarders, and businesses in the Asia Pacific region."

EVA Air is continuously working to improve the quality of its sustainability governance and information disclosure. Since 2021, it has participated in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) and has been featured in the Sustainability Yearbook for five consecutive years. In the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Index (DJBIC) rankings announced in May of this year, it was the only Taiwanese airline to be selected for the DJBIC Emerging Markets Index. The Dow Jones Leading Index is one of the world's most influential sustainability indices, comprehensively evaluating a company's ESG performance from environmental, social, governance, and economic perspectives, based on the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment. This re-selection recognizes EVA Air's sustainable governance and efforts toward decarbonization. Going forward, EVA Air will further deepen its use of SAF to improve operational efficiency and, in cooperation with fuel suppliers, companies, and international partners, will promote net-zero emissions in air transport, thereby creating further value for global sustainability.
