Karratha, Western Australia | 17th August – Perdaman is proud to announce the appointment of Electric Hydrogen as its preferred electrolyser vendor for the proposed Project Helios Phase 2 which is anticipated to include over 1GW of Solar PV and produce in excess of 120 TPD of green hydrogen in Karratha, Western Australia.
Project Helios will deliver hydrogen to Perdaman’s Project Ceres, urea and ammonia manufacturing facility in the Pilbara region, to support decarbonisation and new product streams.

Perdaman has been working with Electric Hydrogen on early engineering works for the electrolyser element of the project under a pre-FEED agreement. Successful progression of those works has now progressed to the selection of Electric Hydrogen as the Preferred Electrolyser Vendor for the further stages of the process.

Perdaman is building a state-of-the-art urea production facility on the Burrup Peninsula near Karratha. Electric Hydrogen’s economically viable large scale HYPRplant electrolysis solution will enable Perdaman to address Australia’s critical need for low-carbon, domestically produced fertilizer. Perdaman and Electric Hydrogen are continuing to work together to progress Project Helios’ electrolyser technology development.
Project Ceres represents a $6.45 billion investment by Perdaman and will become Australia’s largest domestic ammonia and urea manufacturing facility, which will strengthen the nation’s fertiliser supply chain and supporting food security. Backed by Australian Government loans of approximately $475 million, the project is estimated to create 2,500 jobs during construction and 200 ongoing operational roles, delivering substantial public benefit and showcasing the scale of what Perdaman is building in the Pilbara.
