Reliant Processing, a subsidiary of carbon dioxide specialist Reliant Holdings, recently began construction on a new liquid CO2 plant in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
The facility, located at Dyno Nobel’s explosives manufacturing site, will capture CO2 emissions from production processes and convert them into liquid CO2 for the merchant market.
Scott Vanderburg, CEO of Reliant Holdings, said the plant will help meet growing demand for CO2 across food, beverage, and industrial sectors in the Rocky Mountain region.

Reliant told gasworld the new plant will expand its capacity in the region by an additional 25,000 tonnes per year.
Texas-based Reliant Holdings currently supplies around 8% of the US CO2 market. Speaking to gasworld earlier this year, Vanderburg said the company is busy looking at new prospects, while operating its current supply.
Its new plant in Wyoming is expected to come online in Q4 2025.
Peter Henderson, General Manager of Operations at Dyno Nobel’s Cheyenne manufacturing site, said, “Seeing our CO2 emissions being utilised to develop new products for use in local industries is a great example of how Dyno Nobel is delivering on its commitment to sustainability and zero harm.”
The facility will operate in compliance with regulatory safety and environmental standards and is expected to create jobs and support local economic activity in the Cheyenne area.
