AMSTERDAM, October 2, 2025 — Skytree, a leader in Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology, now offers an integrated, end-to-end solution combining its innovative DAC technology with CO₂ liquefaction. After successfully testing its Skytree Stratus Alpha prototype at its Almere (NL) facility, the company produced transportable, ready-to-use liquid CO₂ that meets beverage-grade standards.
The validation process shows the Stratus Alpha capturing CO₂ at gas-purity of approximately 98% directly from the atmosphere. This captured gas is then efficiently converted into liquid form at CO₂ purity levels of 99.98%.

For customers in the Food & Beverage industry, receiving CO₂ in a liquefied form is a necessity. The achievement in purity is critical for specifically the beverage industry. Global standards, such as those set by the Society of Beverage Technologists (ISBT), require a minimum of purity of 99.9% for carbon dioxide to be considered ‘beverage-grade.’ Skytree’s integrated solution demonstrates its capability to surpass this key industry benchmark, offering customers in beverage carbonation a reliable, high-quality, and decentralized CO₂ source.
Liquefying captured CO₂ provides crucial logistical and operational flexibility. It enables easy storage and transport, decoupling the capture site from the location where the CO₂ is used or permanently stored. For greenhouses, this system creates significant energy savings as the capture unit can operate during off-peak hours when electricity is cheaper, storing the liquid CO₂ for use later. This process boosts efficiency and lowers overall energy costs.
The operational Skytree Stratus Alpha unit serves as a critical proofpoint of the technology's effectiveness in a real-world environment. Data gathered from every hour of operation and every kilogram of CO₂ captured is being used to refine and perfect the commercial model.
This rigorous, hands-on validation ensures that the Skytree Stratus units, slated for commercial installation in 2026, are based on thousands of hours of proven performance. Through this transparent testing process, Skytree is actively demonstrating the reliability of its future products, today.
“Skytree now delivers a complete DAC solution that unites energy efficiency, high purity, and weather-independent productivity in one product. Our system’s high initial CO₂ purity makes liquefaction simpler and more efficient, avoiding the 15%+ CO₂ losses other systems can face. Crucially, our productivity is stable year-round, eliminating the seasonal swings of ±20% that undermine the ROI of traditional DAC assets. I’m incredibly proud of how the Skytree team has delivered a complete, economically viable DAC solution that unites exceptional energy efficiency, weather-independent productivity, high initial CO₂ purity, and integrated CO₂ liquefaction—together in one product.”
— Wojciech Glazek, CTO of Skytree
Founded in 2014 in Amsterdam with offices in Amsterdam, Toronto and Nashville, Skytree engineers the CO₂ transition with advanced Direct Air Capture (DAC) machines for carbon removal and utilization. Built on European Space Agency expertise, the company delivers scalable, plug-and-play systems tailored for both decentralized installations and large-scale DAC Parks. By transforming CO₂ from a waste product into a valuable resource, Skytree is generating CO₂ from the atmosphere, at the location where it is needed. Skytree Stratus units set the standard for cost and energy efficiency, providing flexible gaseous or liquid CO₂ outputs. Continuously enhanced with next-generation sorbents, Skytree systems radically improve energy efficiency and production capacity over time. With Cumulus units already operating worldwide and a project pipeline for Stratus exceeding 2 million tons of CO₂ annually, Skytree is accelerating the shift to a circular carbon economy with mass-produced, cost-leading, and proven DAC solutions today.
