Uniper signs capacity reservation agreement for future SAF supply from Syzygy Plasmonics' NovaSAF™ platform
This agreement reflects growing market momentum in biogas to SAF technology and provides the European Union with alternative pathways to achieve SAF Mandate goals
Agreement brings additional commercial traction to Syzygy's NovaSAF™ project pipeline
Uniper's global low-carbon offtake portfolio to be expanded through participation in an innovative biogas-to-SAF value chain
HOUSTON and DÜSSELDORF, Germany, Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Uniper has joined a growing list of aviation fuel buyers that have reserved future production capacity from Syzygy Plasmonics' NovaSAF™ platform, as commercial momentum behind the company's biogas-to-SAF technology continues to build.
The agreement adds to Uniper's low carbon portfolio and brings additional commercial traction to Syzygy's planned NovaSAF™ facilities in Central and South America, as NovaSAF-1 in Uruguay approaches a final investment decision. More importantly, the agreement for Syzygy's dual-certified pathway helps to enhance the European Union's ability to meet mandate targets for both bio and RFNBO SAF.
Trevor Best, CEO Syzygy Plasmonics: "Uniper's decision to reserve NovaSAF™ capacity reflects the commercial traction our platform is attracting at the moment when it is most needed to meet mandate volumes. Agreements like this affirm that the market is moving to meet EU commission targets and companies like Syzygy have the right product, at the right time, with the right volumes."
