Velocys has announced the first stage of a product roadmap designed to extend the advantages of microchannel Fischer-Tropsch technology into larger, more cost-competitive sustainable aviation fuel projects.
The first step in the roadmap is the immediate availability of the AlphaCore™ 400 microchannel reactor, a higher-capacity reactor platform that doubles capacity compared to the proven AlphaCore 200 design while maintaining continuity with Velocys’ commercially proven reactor, catalyst and process design platform.

The AlphaCore™ 400 incorporates more microchannel cores in a single reactor shell and includes design features that simplify operation while lowering FT unit cost.
For project developers, this creates a new option for configuring the FT island around feedstock availability, production targets and project economics. Higher-capacity reactor configurations can support larger SAF projects while preserving the performance advantages that distinguish Velocys’ microchannel FT platform.
FT-based SAF projects are well suited to distributed production, particularly where feedstocks such as biomass, biogas, municipal solid waste or power-derived syngas are spread across regions.
At the same time, more projects are considering aggregated feedstock models, hub-and-spoke ecosystems and centralized facilities. Velocys’ roadmap is designed to support this broader range of project configurations by increasing capacity, reducing equipment count and simplifying FT island options.
The AlphaCore™ 400 builds on the same technology, catalyst and design principles as Velocys’ commercially proven line of microchannel reactors.
This continuity matters. SAF developers and project partners need technologies that can scale without requiring a wholesale change in the underlying platform. Velocys’ product roadmap is designed to extend proven microchannel performance into larger project configurations while maintaining a consistent reactor, catalyst and process design foundation.
Velocys works with project developers, EPCs and strategic partners evaluating Fischer-Tropsch technology for sustainable aviation fuel, renewable diesel, naphtha and other synthetic fuel products.
